Along the Siak River
Flood Pumps
A flood pump sits ineffectually at one end of the river market. Several times a year the homes along the river are flooded with dirty water from the Siak River, despite being built on stilts. A rubber factory is nearby and bits of rubber pollute and clog up the flow of the river. The factory, which provides a livelihood to many here, is also destroying their homes. The two small pumps are useless to prevent the inevitable damage.
For as the waters fill the sea, the earth will be filled with an awareness of the glory of the Lord.
Habakkuk 2:14 (NLT)
- Pray that the homes Riau Malay along the river would be filled with the awareness of God rather than the flooding waters of the Siak.
- Pray that God would give the Riau Malay a new respect for his creation and they would treat the environment as something precious, not something to be exploited.
