Foundations

Next to a hotel in the city center, a new foundation has been put into the ground. In the Riau province, foundations are made of raw tree trunks that are cut down in abundance from the jungle for the lumber industry. Multiple slim trunks are rammed into the ground and the walls are then poured around the wooden support. The water level is often close to the surface and as the foundation is laid, oily water rises up. Despite all the effort in putting in groundwork, the wood begins to show signs of rot and damage.

By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:10-12 (NIV).

  • Pray that the Riau Malay will come to know Jesus the Messiah as their firm foundation.
