Rice Fields

Rice is served at every meal in various forms and sustains the Riau Malay people. It is used instead of bread or potatoes as a cheap, but effective staple. Rice is grown locally using “wet rice farming techniques” and the people depend on the crops for life. Quite literally, rice means life for the Riau Malay.

In the same way, the Riau Malay need God’s sustaining grace and power for spiritual life.

I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
1 Cor. 3:6-7 (NIV)

  • Pray that the Riau Malay will have many people taking the “rice of life” to them.
  • Pray that many others would come behind and water that seed planted in their hearts.
  • Pray that the Holy Spirit would cause that seed to grow into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
