Courthouse

The distinctive architecture of the Dutch-built wooden courthouse welcomes visitors arriving by ferry. A "silver onion" on top of the courthouse makes it look a little like a mosque. Inside the house, you'll find two staircases, one narrow and made of wood, the other a spiral metal staircase. It was once custom to send a convicted person down the wooden staircase for his execution. An innocent person was sent down the iron staircase into freedom. A plan has been formulated to renovate the courthouse and make it into a new Tourism Centre and Museum.

We know the one who said, "I will take revenge. I will pay them back." He also said, "The Lord will judge his own people."
Hebrews 10:30 (NLT)

  • Pray for those in positions of authority in Riau Province, that they will not abuse their power, but rather be guided by God's wisdom, mercy and compassion, acting justly at all times.
  • Pray that the Riau Malay would come to know what it means to be truly forgiven and free.
