“What’s next for me?”

We spot a girl sitting alone at the river's edge, deep in thought about what the future holds for her. Sari’s father died several years ago, and her mother had been working hard to raise her and her younger brother. Three months ago Sari’s mom acquired what they had thought to be a minor illness. But as time went by that illness became worse, until she could no longer sleep and cried out in pain.

The family decided to visit a trusted local shaman for healing, but that did not help. They grew more desperate as they went from hospital to hospital, trying to discover a cure. On the way home from one of her treatments Sari’s mom died suddenly. Burdened with a heavy debt from seeking treatment for her mother, Sari’s future seems to be dim. She has no choice but to live with her aunt’s family who has barely enough for her own children.

For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.
Acts 28:27 (NIV)

  • Pray that the widows and orphans who are suffering much loss in this life will find hope in the midst of an uncertain future. Pray that they would encounter God during the difficulties they face.
  • Pray that the RM people’s hearts would be sensitive to seek God, acknowledging and trusting in Him as the source of their healing.
