Drainage channels cut alongside most of Pekanbaru's streets. These channels help to draw rainwater away from the city. However, bath water and sewage also collect here. Many citizens throw litter and cigarette butts into the drains, creating an unpleasant smell.
To most residents of Pekanbaru, the smell and the waste are an ordinary part of life. They’ve become accustomed to it. Like people everywhere, many have also become accustomed to lives of sin, little realizing their need for forgiveness and new life.
