Pekanbaru's main market area, Ramayana, is located in the centre of the city. There is modern shopping complex here, and also a traditional market area.
Ramayana is usually crowded with people. Mothers and their children come to make purchases. Older men sit on the steps, staring straight ahead. Street vendors offer water and small food items for sale. There is no such thing as a quick purchase; buyers and sellers haggle good-naturedly until the price is finally settled.
The people of Pekanbaru come here to buy fish, rice, jewelry, cloth, sandals, cigarettes and other things they need for daily life.
- Pray that God would provide for the physical needs of poor people who cannot afford to shop here.
- Pray that the shoppers would realize that they have not only physical, but also spiritual needs.
